Zero Waste Heroes

We are very happy and excited to announce our involvement in a great new project happening right here in South Kintyre. Zero Waste Heroes was launched by Inspiralba and partners including; Campbeltown Community Orchard and Garden, Kintyre Recycling, Shopper Aide and the South Kintyre Development Trust. The project is funded by Zero Waste Scotland to help reduce waste and maximise resources in South Kintyre.

The project will be recruiting and training volunteers with the aim to:
  • Reduce food waste.
  • Extend products life cycle (through repair and upcycling).
  • Promote recycling and increase recycling participation.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to develop skills in up cycling of furniture and textiles, assist in promoting ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ as well as Recycling, through a range of activities and events. To help people reduce the amount of food waste and therefore save money, they will organise cookery demonstrations, tasters and awareness raising activities as well as supporting projects which facilitate the sharing of knowledge between generations. They aim to work with the whole community (individuals, local schools, community groups, organisations as well as local businesses) and are open to your ideas for the best ways to reduce waste in South Kintyre.
